Teen Volunteer Program
The 2012 Summer Teen Volunteer Program dates will be July 10 - July 26. The program runs on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. There are morning sessions from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and afternoon sessions from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Each summer the UAMS Medical Center Department of Volunteer Services offers teens the opportunity to participate in its summer teen volunteer program (STVP) Teens will be assigned to volunteer in various areas throughout the hospital. Guest speakers and tours of certain areas in the hospital will help students gain experience of day to day life in a major medical facility.
The program is open to high school students going into their sophomore, junior, or senior year by the fall of 2012. The program requires that all students submit an application and undergo an interview with a member of the Volunteer Services Department. The application deadline is Friday, April 27, 2012. All interviews must be completed by Thursday, May 17, 2012. Applicants must provide a valid and working e-mail address in order to receive important correspondence from the Volunteer Department, including information on interview scheduling.
This year's program will be divided into two sessions. Each session will be three weeks long and run Tuesday through Thursday. Orientation will be on July 2. A full commitment is expected for the entire duration of the session for which the student is selected.
The Volunteer Services Department is anticipating another great summer with our teen volunteers – join us in “Creating Comfort, Hope, and Healing for our Patients and Families.”
