Urogynecology

Urogynecology Clinic at UAMS
Complex women’s health issues can not only cause uneasiness and discomfort, but they can also be uncomfortable to talk about. At UAMS’ Urogynecology Clinic, we understand that these are sensitive issues you may be facing, and we do our best to not only make you feel comfortable about your condition but also your treatment.

Urogynecology involves the diagnosis and treatment of urinary incontinence and female pelvic floor disorders. Incontinence and pelvic floor problems are remarkably common; in fact, pelvic floor conditions are as common as hypertension, depression or diabetes. Despite the prevalance of these conditions, many women are reluctant to receive help because of the stigma associated with them.

Some conditions treated in our urogynecology practice include:

We also offer pelvic floor rehabilitation

Dr. Susan Barr leads our urogynecology team with her advanced training in urogynecology and reconstructive pelvic surgery. She is experienced in vaginal, abdominal and laparoscopic surgery for pelvic organ prolapse as well as vaginal surgery for stress incontinence. Dr. Barr is joined by Dr. Sallie Oliphant, an expert in urinary incontinence, fecal incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse.
