HouseCall
In today's hurry-up world, doctors making house calls seems to be a thing of the past. But the UAMS Donald W. Reynolds Institute on Aging knows it can be a lifesaver. That's why we are bringing our doctors to you. Preliminary research indicates that a home medical visit to the elderly may reduce the inpatient length of stay and decrease the rate of readmission to the hospital for frail, chronically ill and nonambulatory patients.
The HouseCall Program is designed to extend the continuum of care for those patients who are unable to visit the doctor's office. The HouseCall physician or Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) can be your primary care team or work with your existing doctor to provide your care. The HouseCall doctor, in collaboration with an APN, can coordinate care between families, nursing agencies and home health services.
The HouseCall Program serves the geriatric population within a 30-mile radius of UAMS. These individuals include ambulatory persons, outpatients who need 24- to 48-hour follow-up care, persons with chronic health problems or someone who is simply having a difficult time reaching a doctor's office. UAMS proves this service to make a difference in the outcome and the quality of life for the older adults.
All routine medical care includes:
- Physical exams
- Regular scheduled visits
- Prescription refills
- Referral to appropriate home health services, durable medical equipment, rehabilitation services, immunizations such as flu and pneumonia shots
Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance or private pay insurance is accepted, and we take care of all the hassles of billing.
Please note that the UAMS HouseCall Program is not an emergency service.
