Suffering from back pain, cancer, shingles and other forms of chronic pain does not have to be a way of life. The Spine Pain Clinic at UAMS offers you hope.

Our multidisciplinary team combines the skills of Dr. Ahmed Ghaleb, Medical Director of Pain Medicine, physiatrists (physicians specializing in physical medicine and rehabilitation), neuroradiologists and neurosurgeons.

Located in the Jackson T. Stephens Spine & Neurosciences Institute, we have a new state-of-the-art physical therapy facility complete with a therapy and exercise pool to help with your pain management.

Our pain specialists provide the highest quality care to patients suffering from acute, severe and chronic pain conditions, including pain associated with the cervical and lumbar spine.

Appointments

Appointments with the Interventional Pain Clinic are by referral only. Please contact your primary care doctor or visit one of our doctors in the Center for Primary Care to obtain a referral.

If you prefer to call and request an appointment, please call 501-686-8818 for new patients, returning patients and referral appointments.

What should I bring to the appointment?

For your first appointment, please bring a photo ID and your insurance card along with a list of any medications you're taking, including over-the-counter medications. You should also bring any medical records you can provide, including slides or test results from other clinics.

For future appointments, please provide updated medical and insurance information.

How do I request a prescription refill or contact a nurse from the clinic?

Call the clinic at 501-686-8818, or you can request prescription refills during your appointment. If you originally filled your prescription at the UAMS Outpatient Pharmacy, you can also refill your prescription online.

Location: 1st floor of the Jackson T. Stephens Spine Institute building

Parking: Parking is available in Parking 3 at the corner of Cedar and Capitol. Valet parking is available in front of the Spine Institute. 

Directions:

  • Go to level 3A in the parking deck and follow signs to Elevator G
  • Take Elevator G to the 1st floor
