UAMS is the state's go-to source for infectious disease information, diagnosis and treatment.

UAMS Infectious Diseases Clinic
The infectious disease experts at UAMS provide telephone consultations to Arkansas practitioners. Those calls yield the rapid identification of a wide range of infectious conditions, helping doctors inform and treat patients in all corners of the state.

The infectious disease outpatient referral service has been a mainstay at UAMS for nearly a decade. Patients are seen and treated with the help of state-of-the-art clinical care and equipment and can be referred back to their personal physician.

We are trained to handle a number of conditions, including:

  • HIV/AIDS
  • Invasive fungal infections
  • Infective endocarditis
  • Osteomyelitis
  • Chronic pneumonia
  • Meningitis
  • Brain abscess
  • Lymphadenitis
  • Recurrent staphylococcal skin abscesses and cellulites
  • Sexually transmitted diseases
  • Tick-borne illnesses
  • Fever of unknown origin

This service is located within our Medicine Clinic and is available by referral only. Please contact your primary care doctor or you can see someone in our Family Medical Center or in Internal Medicine.
