Lions Eye Bank and Laboratory

Established in 1983, the Arkansas Lions Eye Bank and Laboratory at UAMS has since grown into one of the best in the country.

Our eye bank serves the entire state of Arkansas and has been heavily supported by the Lions Clubs of Arkansas since its humble beginning.

The support generated by the Arkansas Lions includes the procurement of eye examination equipment, funding a cutting cutting-edge research project, and providing funds for eye bank personnel to attend health fairs and other related events to enhance community awareness of the need for eye donation.

More than 42,000 people nationwide have sight-restoring corneal transplants annually, while more than 5,000 remain on a waiting list at any given time. Since 95% of corneal transplants are successful and nearly anyone can become a donor, the importance of giving is tremendous.
