Clinic FAQ

At UAMS, we know you are looking for the best in heart and vascular health care. The UAMS Cardiovascular Center is pioneering a novel approach to the treatment of the entire spectrum of complex cardiovascular problems by integrating the skills and expertise of cardiologists, interventional radiologists, vascular surgeons and cardiovascular surgeons in one multidisciplinary team.

Our team handles the most complex cardiac, pulmonary and peripheral vascular medical problems in the mid-south. Using cutting-edge procedures, some of which are only available at a few centers in the world, the UAMS Cardiovascular Center is able to offer hope to patients who are unable to find this level of expertise in our region. We are also able to help patients with common heart and vascular problems.

Providing the best of both worlds, our heart and cardiovascular medical care is a private practice within an academic medical center. This allows our caring and compassionate doctors to personally interact with you and your family. While every patient has one cardiologist who manages their care, that cardiologist can call on UAMS colleagues who have substantial depth and breadth of training and experience in very focused areas of cardiovascular medicine.

The expertise of our physicians includes:

With the resources of world-class facilities for diagnosis of diseases affecting the blood vessels, heart valves, and myocardial tissue, UAMS can offer comprehensive heart care. These facilities include electrocardiogram (ECG), exercise stress testing, echocardiography, cardiac computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), coronary interventions, electrophysiology and nuclear medicine evaluation. Our staff includes experts in drug therapy, intracoronary intervention and cardiac surgery.

Our Heart and Lung Center offers integrated hospital care for cardiac, cardiovascular, surgery and pulmonary specialties.

The impact of our groundbreaking medical research also can be felt in our cardiology services through telemedicine and advances like the CALL Program, which is a system to wirelessly transmit heart monitor data from the ambulance to hospital cardiology team members, speeding up the time to treatment.
