Clinic FAQ

The Arkansas Diabetes Program at UAMS specializes in the multidisciplinary care of diabetic patients and gives special attention to the complications of diabetes. Our program is recognized by the American Diabetes Association, and we incorporate the American Diabetes Association standards of care in our practice.

Our caring and compassionate staff members work with our other subspecialists in eye care, vascular surgery, kidney/nephrology, podiatry and other specialties to provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient management for all the complications of diabetes.

Our clinic is staffed with two diabetes educators and dietitians as well as a podiatrist who specializes in diabetes foot care. We offer weekly diabetes education classes for patients, and we welcome patients who have been referred to us by any doctor. A behavioral psychologist and an exercise physiologist participate in the classes.

Since we are a teaching hospital, members of our diabetes team are current with the latest advancements in diabetes care, new technology and diabetes related issues.

At the Arkansas Diabetes Program at UAMS, our patients receive personalized care, so you can be empowered to meet the day-to-day challenges head on. Diabetes is one of the most patient-centered diseases in terms of its management. Research shows that if diabetes is well controlled, the incidence and progression of its complications are
considerably reduced.

UAMS Arkansas Diabetes Program

Our program also offers a diabetes information line for patients to contact members of the team with questions or concerns. It's just another way we support our patients. UAMS primary care doctors are also available to help you control diabetes. Working together, you and our UAMS Arkansas Diabetes Program can be "Partners For Living Well With Diabetes."
