Child Study Center

Our Child Study Center's Outpatient Therapy Clinic at UAMS serves the entire state of Arkansas with over 1,000 new patients referred each year.

Patients are typically referred directly for initial assessment, which consists of clinical interviews, mental status exams and reviews of existing evaluation or historical data. Based on this assessment, appropriate referrals are made for psychological evaluations and subsequent treatment plan recommendations, or treatment is initiated. Consultation from a child psychiatrist, psychiatric social worker or other mental health specialist is available as needed.

Play therapy and other techniques are routinely used by our caring and compassionate UAMS staff members.

Outpatient diagnostic services include the following:

• Individual, group and family therapy
• Behavior management techniques
• Parent education and training
• Medication consultation and treatment

This clinic primarily treats children of ages pre-school through 13, along with parents or guardians.
