Hearing the words, "you have breast cancer," brings with it many questions and emotions. A breast cancer diagnosis can be a frightening experience. Our compassionate staff understands your fears and has the expertise to help you battle this disease.

Our Breast Cancer Clinic at the UAMS Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute offers comprehensive evaluation of breast pain, breast lumps and abnormal mammograms. Our team of top nurses and doctors will listen to your concerns, evaluate your findings and make competent recommendations — all in a short period of time.

New patients are generally seen within two to three days. A breast biopsy can be done and preliminary results given the same day. Biopsies can be done in our office with only a 1 cm incision required. You do not need to go to surgery or be put to sleep.

If you do receive a diagnosis of breast cancer, evaluations and surgical procedures are carefully coordinated with medical and radiation oncologists throughout the state to provide total cancer care. We offer complete tumor care and advanced surgical techniques for breast cancer treatment.

We also offer a second-opinion clinic. Your personal physician takes good care of you and may have referred you to a specialist. However, we are available for second opinions to confirm the recommendations of your local physicians or give you alternatives from the team at the forefront of breast cancer research and treatment.

We are the cutting edge of total breast cancer treatment. Some of our cutting-edge procedures include the following:
