Elizabeth Gath, M.D.

Following the completion of medical school and Fifth Pathway, Dr. Elizabeth Gath did a dual Residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at Cook County Hospital in Chicago. She continued there as an attending physician, becoming Associate Medical Director of the Women and Children’s HIV Program. She did clinical trials, developed models of care and spoke both locally, nationally and internationally on a comprehensive model of care for women and children with HIV disease.

A native of New York, she left Chicago to become faculty at Albany Medical College in 1994 as Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Department of Medicine. Believing in a comprehensive model of care, she functioned initially as liaison between Internal Medicine and the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

In 2001, she opened her own solo practice, Primarily for Women Medical Practice, PLLC in Albany, New York. She has provided primary care, diagnostics and offered health promotion to over 4000 women patients.

Dr. Gath works at UAMS in the Division of Internal Medicine with a wealth of experience in treating women for their diverse health care needs. She strives to offer advice that helps transform a woman’s health by understanding their history, cultural beliefs and stage of life.
