Dr. Matthew D. Katz is the only two-year Society of Urologic Oncology accredited fellowship-trained urologist in Arkansas. Dr. Katz is board certified by the American Board of Urology and a fellowship-trained urologic oncologist specializing in laparoscopic and robotic surgery. Dr. Katz sees patients at the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS).
Dr. Katz's advanced training brings new treatment techniques to UAMS, including new approaches in laparoscopic robotic-assisted removal of kidney tumors and robotic-assisted bladder removal. He also recently performed – with the help of UAMS' Stephen Canon, M.D. – the first robotic pediatric urologic surgery in Arkansas.
Dr. Katz received his medical degree from UAMS and completed an internship and residencies in surgery and urology at the University of New Mexico for Health Sciences in Albuquerque, N.M. He then completed an intensive two-year combined fellowship in minimally invasive urologic oncology and endourology/laparoscopy at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.
