David A. Hutchins, who is originally from Grand Rapids, Michigan, did his undergraduate work at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. He graduated from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine and completed an OB/GYN residency at Blodgett Memorial Medical Center in Grand Rapids in affiliation with the University of Michigan. Dr. Hutchins is board certified in OB/GYN.
His practice experience spans more than 32 years in the private sector, in a managed care setting and, since December 2000, in an academic setting at UAMS. His particular interests include student and resident education, clinical management of general OB/GYN, preventive health care, menopausal health, geriatric gynecology and vulvar disorders. He is also actively involved in menopause research.
He has received numerous awards including:

- Council on Resident Education in Obstetrics and Gynecology
- National Faculty Award
- The Claibourne Watkins Award Excellence in ICM-1
Dr. Hutchins enjoys spending time with family, travel, reading, listening to classical music, mountain trekking and painting with watercolors. Although raised in the North, he considers himself a transplanted Arkansan and enjoys all that Arkansas has to offer.
