UAMS Now Seeing Primary Care Patients in West Little Rock

LITTLE ROCK – UAMS Medical Center today opened a site in west Little Rock that houses an Internal Medicine Clinic, an Obstetrics/Gynecology Clinic and a sleep lab.

The clinic site occupies 9,300 square feet at Pyramid Park shopping center at 11300 Financial Centre Parkway across Chenal from the Embassy Suites. The former office space was converted into medical clinics after the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) signed a six-year lease with Robert M. Goff and Associates.

These clinics, which are staffed full time by UAMS faculty physicians, are in addition to the outpatient clinics at the main UAMS campus on Markham Street in central Little Rock and do not replace any existing clinics.

The expansion into West Little Rock is designed to meet the health care needs of the area’s growing population, said Richard Pierson, UAMS vice chancellor for clinical programs.

“The new clinics are part of an expanded focus on primary care and UAMS’ desire to meet the needs of patients in a changing health care environment,” Pierson said. “The location was chosen because of its easy interstate access and proximity to residents west, northwest and southwest of Little Rock.”

The OB/Gyn Clinic is staffed by Amy Phillips, M.D., Nirvana Manning, M.D., Kimberly Reynolds, M.D., and Dora Mah Smith, M.D.

The Internal Medicine Clinic is staffed by Tricia Moses, M.D., and Elizabeth Rogers, M.D.

To make an appointment at the west Little Rock site, call 686-8000.

UAMS is the state’s only comprehensive academic health center, with colleges of Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Health Related Professions and Public Health; a graduate school; a hospital; a statewide network of regional centers; and seven institutes: the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute, the Jackson T. Stephens Spine & Neurosciences Institute, the Myeloma Institute for Research and Therapy, the Harvey & Bernice Jones Eye Institute, the Psychiatric Research Institute, the Donald W. Reynolds Institute on Aging and the Translational Research Institute. Named best Little Rock metropolitan area hospital by U.S. News & World Report, it is the only adult Level 1 trauma center in the state. UAMS has more than 2,800 students and 775 medical residents. It is the state’s largest public employer with more than 10,000 employees, including about 1,000 physicians and other professionals who provide care to patients at UAMS, Arkansas Children’s Hospital, the VA Medical Center and UAMS’ Area Health Education Centers throughout the state.
