UAMS Pharmacy Dean's Service Award Honors Batesville Pharmacist


LITTLE ROCK – Steve Bryant, owner of Bryant’s Pharmacy and Health Care Center in Batesville, received the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) College of Pharmacy Dean’s Award for Service to the College during the Senior Honors Convocation on May 18.

Bryant received the award, given to a pharmacist, for giving his time, talent and resources to benefit and advance the UAMS College of Pharmacy and for his example of professionalism to students.

A member of the Arkansas State Board of Pharmacy, Bryant is a native of Alma and a graduate of Arkansas State University at Jonesboro and the UAMS College of Pharmacy.

He has served on the UAMS College of Pharmacy Dean’s Advisory Council and is a member of the Dean’s Society and the Society of the Double Helix at UAMS. Bryant has advised student business plan competition teams and has spoken to classes on behalf of community pharmacy. He was instrumental in the establishment last year of the UAMS College of Pharmacy’s first endowed chair.

A former member of the Arkansas Ethics Commission, he now serves on the PACE Alliance Board, Medicaid Board, and the Arkansas Pharmacists Services Company Board of Directors. He is a member of the Independence County Pharmacist Association, the Arkansas Pharmacists Association and the National Community Pharmacists Association. In 2007 he was named “Pharmacist of the Year” by the Arkansas Pharmacists Association.

He is married to Sharon Bryant and they have two grown daughters, Monica Bryant and Mallory Burton. Mallory is married to Air Force 1st Lt. Justin Burton and they have one son, Joseph.
