You probably have at least one relative who has experienced cancer at some point in his or her life.
Cancer is very common, but only 5 - 10% of those diagnosed with cancer have an "inherited" cancer, which refers to cancer that may be passed down from parents to children.
Genetic tests are available for some inherited cancers, and the UAMS Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute is home to Arkansas' only clinical cancer genetics clinic.
Our caring and compassionate genetics specialists are available to discuss these issues in more detail and to address your individual concerns. Cancer genetics specialists may include genetic counselors, genetics doctors, oncologists and advanced practice nurses with special training in cancer genetics.
Please contact us to learn more about how our UAMS Cancer Institute can be of service to you.
