Diagnostic Clinic
Have you ever had problems getting a clear diagnosis? Do you have problems getting an appointment in the clinic you need for your condition? If so, UAMS is pleased to offer a Diagnostic Clinic as an addition to our outpatient program.
At UAMS, we recognize the need you have to see a doctor in a timely manner and get the answers you need. Our Diagnostic Clinic will help you get the medical care that you need to treat whatever condition you may have. Your doctor may refer you to our clinic, or please feel free to contact us directly if you don't have a referral.
Dr. Charles Smith, M.D., professor and executive associate dean for clinical affairs in the College of Medicine, leads our Diagnostic Clinic at UAMS. Dr. Smith is board certified in family and preventive medicine and has more than 30 years of clinical experience.
At your appointment, we will conduct a thorough investigation of your condition and order the necessary tests to make a correct diagnosis. Once a diagnosis has been reached, our doctor will either refer you to the appropriate subspecialist at UAMS or recommend an initial approach to treatment.
You will probably return to the clinic for at least one follow-up visit. However, our Diagnostic Clinic does not function as a primary care facility or a place where you receive ongoing medical care. Our goal is to make sure that you have received the correct diagnosis and that you are receiving the best medical care possible for your condition. If your situation is complex, our caring and compassionate doctors will arrange for you to have further consultations with UAMS specialists to ensure that you are moving toward relief or resolution of your medical issues.
