UAMS Northwest

UAMS announced plans in 2006 to establish a satellite campus because its Little Rock campus and UAMS programs around the state were not able to accommodate enough new students.

The satellite campus, located in Fayetteville, will open for the fall 2009 semester and is intended to address growing health care work force shortages by allowing UAMS to further increase its enrollment.

The new campus, at the site of the former Washington Regional Medical Center, will provide facilities for students, resident physicians, faculty and patients. Dr. Peter Kohler, Vice Chancellor of UAMS-NW said the satellite campus will have between 250 and 300 students, including students in medicine, pharmacy, nursing and allied health programs – along with resident physicians – when full enrollment is reached.

How You Can Help
UAMS is currently involved in a comprehensive campaign to ensure a healthier future for Arkansans. A significant portion of Campaign Imagine, which has a goal of $325 million, will go to facilitate the necessary growth of the Northwest campus.

People in Arkansas have a rich tradition of investing in projects that enhance the quality of life regionally and statewide. UAMS-Northwest would like to partner with you to make the future of Northwest Arkansas stronger.

By supporting the UAMS-Northwest campus, you will not only help increase access to medical, pharmacy, nursing and allied health education in Northwest Arkansas, but you will also play an integral role in increasing health care access for patients in this region and throughout the state.

Education and health care support will, in turn, contribute to the local economy by attracting job growth and development in the northwest region of the state. The impact of the satellite campus on the quality of life in Northwest Arkansas will be immeasurable.

Your support of the new campus will enable UAMS-Northwest to educate enough students and residents to meet the state's growing need for health care professionals.  As a result, you will help create a lasting legacy of health education by providing a healthier citizenry and workplace for the future of Northwest Arkansas and the entire state.

Please consider a donation and help establish stable funding for UAMS-Northwest - making certain that the health care needs of our community will always be met.

Funding Opportunities

Building Renovations
As mentioned above, the new campus will be housed in the former Washington Regional Hospital on North College Avenue for $1 a year lease with Washington County. These generous terms will save UAMS millions in construction/lease costs. However, building renovations are necessary and UAMS-Northwest is working to raise $4 million+ for phase 2 of the project.
